Venon Solutions is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to support a client's modernization of its legacy data environment and transition to an AWS-hosted architecture centered around PostgreSQL and Odoo. The current environment includes AS400 and IBM DB2/400. This role will focus on extracting, transforming, and migrating legacy data into PostgreSQL; building reliable integrations with Odoo; and enabling reporting, dashboards, and business intelligence capabilities. Responsibilities • Design and implement the migration of legacy operational data into PostgreSQL within an AWS-based environment. • Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines for scheduled data extraction, transformation, validation, and loading. • Create and support a nightly proprietary data replication process for reporting and analytics. • Integrate PostgreSQL, Odoo, and external systems through APIs and other appropriate integration methods. • Analyze legacy data structures, mappings, and business logic in collaboration with internal stakeholders and technical subject-matter experts. • Support the transition from the existing legacy environment to a PostgreSQL- and Odoo-centereddata ecosystem. • Build reporting-ready datasets, views, and data models for dashboards and custom reporting. • Partner with business users to translate reporting and operational needs into scalable data solutions. • Ensure data quality, consistency, monitoring, security, error handling, and documentation across pipelines and integrations. • Troubleshoot data discrepancies, integration failures, and performance issues. Requirements • Advanced English level (B2/C1/C2) to ensure fluent communication across teams. • Strong experience as a Data Engineer , Integration Engineer, or similar role. • Proven experience delivering data migration, modernization, or system-integration projects. • Advanced SQL skills , particularly PostgreSQL . • Strong experience designing and building ETL/ELT pipelines and scheduled data workflows. • Experience with AWS -based data architectures and cloud services. • Strong experience with API integrations, including connecting ERP platforms and external systems. • Experience with data modeling, reporting datasets, business intelligence tools, and dashboard development. • Ability to understand unfamiliar legacy systems, data structures, and business processes. • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work directly with business and technical stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with AS400 / IBM i environments. • Experience with IBM DB2, including DB2/400. • Experience migrating data from legacy databases or mainframe-style environments. • Experience integrating with Odoo through APIs, modules, or database workflows. • Familiarity with Odoo data models and ERP-related integrations . • Experience with Power BI or similar cloud-based reporting tools. • Experience supporting Excel-based reporting and exports. • Familiarity with retail, inventory, e-commerce, ERP, or operational-data environments. • Experience using AI-assisted development and analysis tools such as Claude or Codex to accelerate documentation, data mapping, query development, and troubleshooting What do we offer? • Salary in USD . • 100% Remote work. • Contract duration: Long-term . • Type of contract: Independent contractor with Venon Solutions LLC. • Paid Holidays from the US Calendar. • 2 weeks of Paid Time Off ( PTOs ). • Working hours: CST full-time, fully committed.
