Backend Engineer - Payments

About the Client Our client is one of the fastest-growing telehealth companies in the US — founded three years ago, now at eight-figure annual revenue, with partnerships spanning a major buy-now-pay-later provider and a household-name consumer fitness brand. Their payments platform processes every dollar of that growth. The Role You'll work on the backend of the payments platform: subscription and renewal logic, credits, and the payment events that release a customer's order. Correctness is the job — if the money logic or a webhook is wrong, product doesn't ship. This is a hands-on engineering seat on a small team, not an architecture role. What You'll Do • Build and maintain subscription, renewal, and credit logic in a TypeScript service • Own webhook reliability and payment-event correctness end to end • Work with payment processor and orchestration APIs — auth/capture, refunds, retries • Write automated tests alongside the code; partial credits and multi-cycle renewals have too many edge cases for manual QA • Occasional light React work where your APIs meet the checkout screens Requirements What We're Looking For Required • 3–5 years of production backend TypeScript/Golang • Hands-on payments experience — you've worked on billing, subscriptions, checkout, PSP integrations (Stripe, Adyen, PagSeguro, Pix, or similar), or another system where money moved and had to be right • Postgres fluency • Comfort with event-driven systems and async processing • AI-assisted development as part of your normal workflow — expected, not a bonus • Strong written and spoken English • Availability during US business hours Nice to have • Go • GCP experience • React / React Native Benefits • Own revenue-critical logic at real transaction volume • Small senior team, direct access to product — no ticket factory • Long-term engagement through Maxana , paid in USD • Fully remote, LATAM-friendly hours Originally posted on Himalayas
