IT Systems & Automation Specialist

This is a remote position. Job Summary Pastor’s Heart is looking for a Platform & Systems IT Specialist to help build, maintain, and scale the technical foundation of our Christian counseling platform. This role focuses on WordPress development, dashboard creation, system stability, and day-to-day technical support for pastors and staff. You will ensure our site can support a growing number of users while remaining secure, reliable, and easy to use. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving problems, improving systems, and supporting real people doing meaningful work. Key Responsibilities Platform & Website Development • Develop, manage, and optimize WordPress to support large user volumes • Build and maintain custom dashboards for: • Pastors • Counselors • Admin staff • Ensure fast load times, uptime, and scalability Dashboard & User Experience • Improve user flows for: • Login • Scheduling • Messaging • Client management • Ensure dashboards are clean, intuitive, and stable • Work with leadership to translate needs into functional tools Technical Support • Troubleshoot login, access, and system issues for pastors and staff • Provide technical assistance and guidance to non-technical users • Resolve issues quickly to minimize downtime Systems & Performance • Monitor site performance and address bottlenecks • Implement updates, backups, and security best practices • Assist with integrations as needed (email, scheduling, forms) WordPress Administration • Manage themes, plugins, updates, and configurations • Ensure compatibility between plugins and custom features • Prevent conflicts that impact user experience Personal & Values Fit • Comfortable supporting pastors and faith-based teams • Patient communicator with non-technical users • High integrity with sensitive information • Self-directed and solution-oriented Requirements Required Skills & Experience Technical Requirements • 3+ years experience with WordPress development and administration • Strong experience building and managing user dashboards • Understanding of: • User roles and permissions • Site performance optimization • Security best practices • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues efficiently Nice to Have (Not Required) • Experience scaling membership or SaaS-style platforms • Experience with hosting environments and caching/CDNs • Familiarity with HIPAA-aware system design (non-clinical systems) Benefits Employment Type & Compensation Type: 1099 Contractor Location: Remote Schedule: Flexible with ongoing support Compensation: • $45–$75 per hour , based on experience • Retainer options available for long-term engagement Why Work With Pastor’s Heart • Mission-driven organization serving people everywhere • Real impact through technology that supports care • Freedom to build systems the right way • Leadership that values clarity, structure, and excellence Originally posted on Himalayas
