This is a remote position. Our client is looking for a QA Engineer to join their team. Duration - 6 months Location - UK Remote We are looking for a QA Engineer to test the builds of a large UGC VR application and help keep every weekly release stable across the surfaces it ships on. In this role you will be the dedicated quality owner for a mature Unity-based social VR runtime (Horizon Unity Runtime). It ships as a single product natively on Meta Quest headsets, and on mobile and PC via cloud streaming. The product is in keep-the-lights-on (KTLO) mode: change is kept to a minimum, so every fix that does ship has to be right. You will work alongside the runtime engineers, release ship captains and on-call rotations, testing nightly, stable and release-candidate builds, verifying fixes before they are picked to a release branch, and catching regressions in the most-visited worlds before they reach users. Responsibilities • Run smoke and regression test passes on nightly, stable and release-candidate builds, and report a clear go / no-go signal to the release ship captain • Verify launch-blocking fixes in per-fix clone builds and on the release branch before and after they are picked • Test the application in the current set of top-traffic supported worlds, covering core flows such as travel between worlds, avatars, voice, social features and multiplayer sessions • Reproduce crashes, hangs, ANRs, out-of-memory kills and performance regressions reported from production, and file actionable bugs with reliable repro steps, device logs and video • Test cloud-streamed builds on mobile and PC alongside native Quest builds, and flag surface-specific issues • Create and maintain test plans, test cases and release checklists, and keep them current as the supported-world list changes • Help triage incoming bug reports: confirm, deduplicate, assess severity and route them to the right on-call rotation • Identify repetitive manual checks that could be automated, and contribute to automated test coverage where practical Requirements • 5+ years of professional QA experience on games, VR/AR or large-scale consumer applications, or equivalent • Hands-on experience testing on Android-based devices, including sideloading builds and capturing logs with adb / logcat • Proven experience running regression and release test passes against a fixed release schedule • Excellent bug reporting: concise, reproducible reports with clear steps, expected vs. actual results, severity and supporting evidence • Experience writing and maintaining test plans and test cases • Experience reproducing crashes, stability and performance issues from telemetry or user reports • Comfortable working independently, prioritising under release pressure, and communicating risk clearly to engineers and release owners Desirable • Experience testing VR applications, ideally on Meta Quest headsets • Familiarity with Unity, including reading Unity logs and understanding common engine-level failure modes • Experience testing multiplayer, social or user-generated-content (UGC) platforms • Experience testing cloud game or application streaming • Experience with performance and memory profiling tools (e.g. OVR Metrics Tool, Perfetto, Unity Profiler) • Scripting or test automation experience (e.g. Python, Unity Test Framework) • Experience working in live-service (Live Ops) release processes Benefits • Competitive salary • Healthcare contribution and inclusion in company pension scheme • Work laptop and phone • 25 days annual leave (pro-rata) plus paid bank holidays • Expanding workforce with potential for career progression for top performers.
