Solar PV Expert / Technical Advisor | Saudi Arabia

Job Overview We are seeking a highly experienced Solar PV Expert / Technical Advisor to support large-scale renewable energy projects. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership across project development, design evaluation, performance analysis, and risk assessment for utility-scale solar PV plants. This role requires strong expertise in solar technologies, engineering analysis, and financial/technical decision support. Key Responsibilities • Lead technical due diligence for utility-scale solar PV projects during development and execution phases • Review and validate system design, engineering layouts, and single-line diagrams (SLDs) • Conduct energy yield assessments and performance simulations using industry-standard tools • Evaluate and recommend PV technologies, modules, inverters, and balance-of-system (BOS) components • Perform risk assessment and technical advisory for investment and EPC decisions • Support project teams in design optimization and cost-performance balancing • Analyze and benchmark LCOE (Levelized Cost of Energy) and project feasibility • Provide expert input on contractor technical submissions and vendor evaluations • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including EPC, procurement, and project finance • Ensure compliance with international solar standards and best engineering practices Requirements Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Renewable Energy / Electrical Engineering or related field • 12–20 years of total professional experience • Minimum 8–15 years in utility-scale Solar PV projects Technical Skills • PV design & simulation tools: PVsyst, Helioscope, HOMER Pro, MATLAB • Strong understanding of solar PV system design, grid integration, and performance modeling • Knowledge of energy modeling, shading analysis, and system optimization • Understanding of financial modeling and LCOE analysis Certifications (Preferred) • NABCEP Certification • PMP (Project Management Professional) • Chartered Engineer (CEng) Key Competencies • Strong analytical and strategic thinking • Ability to evaluate large-scale renewable energy investments • Excellent understanding of technical and financial trade-offs • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills • Decision-making in high-value infrastructure projects Originally posted on Himalayas
