UNICORN CLUB | Software Engineer (Senior)

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Contract - Initial 12 months with possibility of extension based on delivery COMPANY: Unicorn Club CLIENT: An innovative technology company operating at the intersection of data science, biological research, and large-scale production systems. WORKING MODEL: Fully remote JOB OVERVIEW: An experienced Senior Software Engineer who builds and ships production-grade distributed systems. This is a hands-on delivery role. You will work within an established architecture, own your features end to end, and solve complex engineering problems as part of a strong team. Ideal for someone who wants to write code and deliver, not manage or set direction. DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Engineering & Delivery • Design, build, test, and ship features and services within distributed systems built for scalability, resilience, and maintainability • Own assigned work from design through to production, including deployment, monitoring, and support • Debug and resolve complex technical issues across services and environments • Write clean, well-tested, well-documented code that follows the team's engineering standards Collaboration & Technical Contribution • Contribute to design and architecture discussions with practical input on trade-offs and constraints • Take part in code reviews, both giving and receiving feedback • Work closely with product and engineering teams to break down requirements and deliver against the roadmap • Flag technical risks and suggest improvements to tooling, frameworks, or workflows where relevant KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: • Strong experience with modern cloud environments such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation • Proficiency in at least one backend or systems-focused language such as Go, Rust, Java, or Python • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly through documentation and collaboration with teammates EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: • 7+ years of software engineering experience • Proven experience building and running large-scale distributed systems in production, including: • Microservices architectures • Event-driven systems • Cloud-native platforms ADVANTAGEOUS SKILLS: • Experience working in high-availability or regulated environments (e.g., fintech, healthcare, IoT platforms) • Familiarity with observability frameworks, platform security design, and DevOps practices • Experience contributing to major platform upgrades, migrations, or modernization initiatives • Exposure to Python-based web frameworks, specifically Django **Please note: If you have not heard from us within 2 weeks, please consider your application unsuccessful.
